Chamber U Workshop - Overview of the Fair Labor Standards Act

On April 3, 2018, the Wage and Hour Division (WHD) of the United States Department of Labor (DOL) announced a new nationwide pilot program. The Payroll Audit Independent Determination (PAID) program has facilitated resolution of potential overtime and minimum wage violations under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). This program allows for preliminary audits of any FLSA violations, eliminates any liquidated damages (doubling) and attorney’s fees. It requires that a release is signed by the employees to prevent future private claims.  Chamber members will have the unique opportunity to hear directly from a DOL representative.   A representative from the DOL will co-present with one of our members (Allison Williams of Littler Mendelson, P.C.) on the DOL’s PAID Program. The presenters will discuss the general background of the FLSA and the benefits and risks of participating in the PAID Program.
